SAIC Motor said on Thursday it has become the first Chinese automaker to reach 100 million cumulative vehicle production and sales, marking a milestone in the country's largest auto group's global development.
The milestone was marked at a delivery ceremony in Shanghai, where the carmaker conducted simultaneous deliveries across its brand portfolio, including Roewe, MG, Maxus, SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC Audi and SAIC-GM, as well as commercial vehicles ranging from logistics vans to buses and trucks.
Deliveries were also made in overseas markets including the UK, Indonesia and Singapore.
SAIC, with its origins dating back to 1955, said the 100 millionth vehicle was the IM LS9 Hyper, a flagship electric model from its premium EV brand IM Motors.
