A top from Sainsbury's Tu clothing range is being sold on Vinted for a baffling price, as the seller claims it's 'extremely rare' and won't take any lower offers10:21, 28 May 2026Vinted is a great place to make some extra cash by selling old clothes, but one woman might have taken things too far. Secondhand selling platforms like Vinted, Depop, and eBay are all fantastic places to go to if you want to shift some of your old clothes or want to hunt around for some vintage pieces to add to your own wardrobe.Sellers on platforms like Vinted will list everything from simple statement pieces they bought from high street shops to designer dresses and jackets that they no longer want in their collection. Items are usually sold at a fraction of the price they were bought for, but it seems one woman didn't get that memo when she listed a top from Sainsbury's Tu clothing range for an eye-watering price tag.The listing was found by a woman named Soph, who uploaded screenshots of it to TikTok. In the pictures, Soph showed that the green Sainsbury's "tie up baby doll top" was being listed for a staggering £74, going up to £78.40 with Vinted's mandatory Buyer Protection fee.Soph also shared a message she had sent to the seller to confirm the price, as sometimes people will list things for ridiculously high prices in order to encourage offers, rather than selling them straight away. Her message read: "Hey, what price are you selling it for? I'm confused as to why it's set at £74."Content cannot be displayed without consentThe seller responded: "I'm selling it for £74, which is the listed price, but I am happy to accept offers. Feel free to send one."In the caption of her video, Soph said she believed the seller was trying to flog the Sainsbury's top for a high price because it looks similar to designer ones from brands like Hollister.Commenters on Soph's video were horrified by the extortionate price tag on the Sainsbury's top, which was likely significantly less than £70 when the seller first bought it from the supermarket. One person said: "Surely no one's buying that."Another added: "If it were brand new, fair enough, if it's similar to whatever people are saying. But the price is wild for worn and tatty like it is."A third wrote: "I'm always baffled how s*** like this gets sold, but I'm still struggling to sell my Jane Norman stuff for £5 and brand new with tags clothes for £7."The top was actually briefly listed as sold on the seller's page, but it soon went back on sale at a slightly lower price. As of the time of writing, the top is now £68, making it £72.10 with Vinted's Buyer Protection. The seller added in the item's description: "Accepting reasonable offers but no longer sold, hence the price, and is a highly sought out item that's extremely rare."What's more, the seller does have designer brand items listed on their page, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, and Aeropostale, but most of those items are being sold for around £30-£50 - making them cheaper than the Sainsbury's top.Article continues belowThe seller does seem to be taking things in their stride though, as they've now updated their bio to poke fun at Soph's video, writing: "Yes, I've seen the TikTok #unemployedfinalboss [sic]".
