The Eglinton Crosstown LRT may finally be running, but another transit project on the same street — also more than a decade in the making — will likely never be built.
The city quietly announced online that a cycleway along Eglinton Avenue stretching from Keele to Mount Pleasant — approved by council in 2014 and approved again in 2024 — will not move forward because of the Ford government’s Bill 212, which bans new bike lanes requiring the removal of a lane of traffic.
