The campaign also condemned the abduction in Oriire, saying the incident reflects insecurity affecting schools and concerns over the safety of learners and education workers.

The Save Public Education Campaign has called for the immediate rescue and release of abducted students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The group made the call in a statement issued to commemorate this year’s Children’s Day, saying many children expected to celebrate the occasion continue to face insecurity, poverty and denial of access to quality education.

The campaign also condemned the abduction in Oriire, saying the incident reflects insecurity affecting schools and concerns over the safety of learners and education workers.

Commenting on attacks affecting schools across the country, the group stated: “Schools should be centres of learning and development, not hunting grounds for kidnappers, bandits and criminal elements.
