A person has died following a water related incident at a South Island beach.
Emergency services were called to Kaiteriteri-Sandy Bay Rd just before midday Thursday following reports of a person unresponsive on Kaiteriteri Beach.
Police said despite the best efforts of first responders, the person died at the scene.
“Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.”
