TOKYO, Japan — Malacañang said Tuesday night’s heated exchange at the Senate and the ensuing walkout of the minority bloc over a proposal to allow remote voting of members even during nonemergencies only revealed the real motives of those pushing for the rule change.
“It turns out that the rules are just fine and they just want to change them,” Palace press officer Claire Castro told reporters here on Wednesday, referring to members of the majority bloc led by Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.
“We have also heard from Sen. Alan Cayetano that Sen. (Ronald) “Bato” dela Rosa’s absence and his appearance at the Senate while he was in hiding was a justifiable reason, because he supposedly had no security in case he would be arrested or not,” Castro said at a media briefing on the sidelines of President Marcos’ four-day state visit to Japan.
