The soap star was involved in a number of dramatic storylines21:15, 27 May 2026A former Emmerdale star has shared the one reason she would return to the ITV soap.‌Gaynor Faye played Megan Macey in Emmerdale from 2012 until 2019 after her stint on Coronation Street from 1995 until 1999.‌During her time on the show, her character was involved in a number of dramatic episodes including a custody battle with her ex-husband, Jai Sharma, after being involved in a car accident with Eric Pollard.‌After six years on the soap she decided to say goodbye to the Yorkshire village to perform in the world stage premiere of Band of Gold, written and directed by her mum, Kay Mellor. Now the actress has opened up about her time on Emmerdale as she revealed she hasn’t ever been asked to return but she would only go back if “there was a really good reason.”‌Speaking to Zingo Bingo, she explained: “I've not been asked to go back, to be honest. I left to go and do some theatre, but it's six years ago now. I was in it for seven [years] and I've been out of it six”Gaynor continued: “I think I'd go back if there was a really good reason, she told Zingo Bingo. “Obviously it's only really Jai there who was connected to Megan. If ever we needed to mess up Jai a bit, it might be quite fun.“Obviously I've got a daughter with Jai, so that's a potential way to go back. Other than that, really, I think it's one of those things I'm always about moving on, but I'd never say never.”‌The star also opened up about the time she was left ‘panicking’ during the live episode, but describes the experience as ‘wonderful’.She explained: “With Emmerdale, doing the live episode. The funny thing was, we had obviously all rehearsed it, but there was one part where my character had to take out her mobile phone and look at something on there, so I was really paranoid.‌“It had to work because they had to have the screen show up. I was pressing things and I was renowned for always putting the [camera] flash on accidentally in the shot."I did it with my own phone. When we were shooting, they were going, ‘Right, it’s coming to you,’ and we had the first AD giving us all the motions like “Go” and ‘Action.’”The soap star added: "I’m pressing my phone in my pocket, ready to make it work, and it starts to go, ‘Say a command.’ I obviously pressed something, it must have been Siri or something talking.Article continues below“Nobody heard it, but I could hear it, so it threw me off a bit. When I watched it, I could see my face panicking, but it was all fine. It was such a wonderful sense of collaboration and achievement. To be part of that was wonderful.”Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX
