A U.S. District Court has sentenced a 40-year-old Canadian national, Ramanan Pathmanathan, to 33 years in a federal prison for orchestrating a horrific sextortion scheme that targeted more than 145 children across the United States.
Pathmanathan was sentenced on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, by Chief Judge James E. Boasberg in a case highlighting the dangers of online child exploitation.
Pathmanathan was sentenced following his guilty plea on January 30, 2026, to one count of production of child pornography and one count of coercion and enticement of a minor, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
“This defendant spent years methodically hunting children online. He targeted more than 145 victims, some as young as six, and subjected them to horrors no child should ever experience,” Pirro stated.
