A 54-year-old man was arrested by the Kukatpally police on Wednesday (May 27) in connection with a murder of his roommate following a dispute over money at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in Kukatpally.The accused, identified as Jamshed Ahmed, a native of Uttar Pradesh residing in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kukatpally, was working at a transformer manufacturing company along with Mukesh Kumar Jha (34), a native of Bihar, who was also living with him.Police said that on the night of May 26, the two consumed alcohol in Prashanth Nagar, Kukatpally, when a verbal altercation over financial matters escalated into a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Ahmed picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Jha in the chest, leading to his death on the spot.On receiving information, police rushed to the scene, secured the body and began an investigation. A case was registered and special teams were formed to trace the accused.Police examined CCTV footage from nearby locations and gathered technical and eyewitness evidence, which led to the arrest of the accused from Rajiv Gandhi Nagar within hours.Further investigation is under way.
