The Agriculture Department has advised farmers to use fertilizers judiciously and strictly according to soil test recommendations, citing concerns over the ongoing West Asia crisis and rising international prices of agricultural inputs.In a press release on Wednesday, Agriculture Department Director Manazir Jeelani Basha said the farmers were requested to adopt balanced fertilizer application practices to ensure healthy crop growth, efficient use of resources and long-term soil sustainability.Fertilizers should be applied only as required, based on scientific soil test analysis, helping farmers reduce cultivation costs while improving nutrient efficiency and maintaining soil health, he said.Referring to the geopolitical tensions in West Asia, he noted that careful use of fertilizers, fuel and foreign exchange had become increasingly important for safeguarding the country’s economic security.
