A 28-year-old woman allegedly killed her seven-year-old daughter before taking her own life at Kondalampatti here on Wednesday (May 27, 2026).The deceased were identified as Tamilarasi, a resident of Eechamarathukadu and her daughter.Tamilarasi had married Shekar of Belur eight years ago. The couple reportedly separated six months post the marriage owing to marital discord. Since then, she had been living with her parents along with her daughter. The police said that she had obtained a divorce six months ago.According to the police, Tamilarasi had been working in a garment unit and had recently been under mental distress. On Wednesday morning, family members noticed that Tamilarasi and her daughter had not come out of their room until around 10 a.m. Suspecting something was wrong, the family broke open the door and found both dead. The bodies were sent to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman had allegedly administered poison to her daughter before ending her own life.
