TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that he was not aware of the reported use of the state budget (APBN) to finance the purchase of sacrificial cattle for President Prabowo Subianto.Purbaya made the remarks after attending Eid al-Adha prayers at the central office of the Directorate General of Taxation in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.Previously, reports circulated that around Rp100 billion in state funds was used to procure 1,098 sacrificial cattle for this year’s Eid al-Adha distribution.“I don’t know about that,” Purbaya said when asked about the source of the funds.The Finance Minister also did not provide further explanation regarding coordination over the alleged use of the state budget. He instead suggested that questions be directed to the Ministry of State Secretariat.“Ask the Ministry of State Secretariat, but it feels like it’s their own money,” he said.Earlier, Deputy State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro said the funds used for the President’s sacrificial cattle came from the Presidential social assistance budget within the state budget.He said a total of 1,098 cattle were distributed across Indonesia for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah, with prices varying depending on each animal’s weight and location.According to Juri, 598 cattle were allocated to regional governments across 38 provinces and 514 districts and cities.“So there are 552 regions, consisting of 38 provinces and 514 regencies and cities, that will receive 598 cattle,” he said.He added that each region would receive at least one cattle, except for 46 districts and cities that would receive two cattle due to differences in availability and weight standards. The sacrificial animals reportedly weighed between 800 kilograms and 1.3 tons.In addition to distribution to regional governments, 500 cattle were also handed over to Islamic boarding schools, community leaders, and religious figures.“So for those 598 regions, for social institutions, religious institutions, Islamic boarding schools, figures, a total of 500 cattle.
