TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is donating 1,098 cattle for Eid al-Adha celebrations across the country. Deputy Minister of State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro said the sacrificial cattle will be delivered under two schemes. First, a total of 598 sacrificial cattle are distributed to each province's and regency/city's government. "With 552 areas, namely 38 provinces and 514 regencies/cities, which will receive a total of 598 cattle," said Juri at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.Juri revealed that each region will receive at least one cow, except for 46 districts/cities that will receive two cows, since these regions lack cows that meet the presidential sacrificial animal weight standard of 800 kilograms to 1.3 tons. In addition to the distribution to local governments, President Prabowo also handed over 500 sacrificial cows to educational institutions such as Islamic boarding schools, community figures, and religious figures.Juri emphasized that the cattle donated by the President are healthy, as they have been examined by the regional health agency and have livestock health certificates. Furthermore, the cattle adhere to Islamic sacrificial animal law. "The cattle are over 2 years old, male, and free of defects," he said. "These are premium high-quality cattle."Juri stated that the President's qurban cattle are classified as premium cattle, including Simmental, Limousin, crossbred Ongole, Brahman, Angus, Bali cattle, FH (Friesian Holstein), Belgian Blue, and Charolais. He said that the President's cattle all come from local breeders to improve the productivity and quality of local cattle. At the same time, Juri said President Prabowo hopes that Eid al-Adha can serve as a momentum for the independent development of the livestock industry in Indonesia.
