The Towulade of Owu Akinale, Ogun State, Oba Oluseyi Adediran, has said the legacy of the late Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu, would continue to be remembered through acts of compassion and community service, as widows in the community were supported with financial assistance, food items and free hair-attachment plaiting services ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
Speaking on behalf of the queen at the event on Tuesday, Oba Adediran explained that the initiative was organised by his wife, the Olori Towulade of Akinale, Olori Olufolake Adediran, to honour the memory of the late royal father by supporting vulnerable women in society.
“I honoured the late Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Gboyega Dosunmu, by assisting widows with financial support, food items and free hair plaiting for the Eid-el-Kabir festival,” the monarch said.
He added that caring for widows and the less privileged remained a collective responsibility that should be embraced by leaders and well-meaning individuals across society, while also drawing inspiration from the incumbent traditional ruler.
“I am also following the legacy of the current Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, who has consistently demonstrated the spirit of giving back to society and caring for the people,” he said.
