The final episode begins with Jayden recapping the series in dramatic voiceover, explaining the fundaments of the situation: It’s Louis against what remains of the alliance of women that has sought for so long to bring him down:
In camp, the three remaining contestants are making final preparations for battle. Nix is assembling all the keepsakes left behind by each member of Kāhu of which she is the last remaining original member. She holds up, in turn, Vinnie’s string vest, Harrison’s tag, Georgia’s bracelet and Simon’s long johns.
Louis pats his chest and says: “My taonga I carry from everyone is in here.”
Nix: “So you don’t have anything?”
Liv has brought the pair of shorts her brother Chris wore when he won this show in 2021. We cut to flashback footage of Chris in his own series finale, jumping around in celebration, wearing nothing but the shorts, which hug him extremely snugly, particularly around his central southern alpine region.
