Stefan Schulte, CEO of Fraport, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, sought to reassure travelers about potential jet fuel shortages this summer, saying he sees Europe’s fuel supply as secure and urging passengers not to worry about their bookings.

“I would clearly tell every passenger: Do not worry about your booking at the moment,” Schulte told the Handelsblatt newspaper. He said he expects sufficient jet fuel availability across Europe in the coming months and, “if things go well, even until the end of the year.”

Schulte added that even in the event of regional shortages, airlines would rebook passengers or issue refunds. “The concern that people could be stranded somewhere is, in my view, unfounded,” he said.

He noted that countries such as India and China manage fuel reserves professionally and that aircraft permitted to land there are typically able to return without disruption.
