The water level of Angat Dam continues to decline amid the transition from the dry to the wet season, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday.“Sa ngayon, patuloy na bumaba ang antas ng Angat Dam batay sa monitoring ng PAGASA Hydrometeorology Division,” Super Radyo dzBB’s Allan Gatus reported.(Currently, the water level of Angat Dam continues to drop based on monitoring by the PAGASA Hydrometeorology Division.)As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, the dam’s water level stood at 174.44 meters, lower than Tuesday’s 174.83 meters.Angat Dam’s minimum operating level is 180 meters, while its critical level is 116 meters.The dam supplies about 90% of Metro Manila’s water needs, as well as parts of Rizal and Cavite.PAGASA earlier said the onset of the rainy season may occur in the last week of May or the first week of June.PAGASA weather specialist Charmagne Varilla said the rainy season is officially declared when at least five consecutive days record more than 25 millimeters of rainfall, accompanied by prevailing southwest winds.Last year, the rainy season was officially declared on June 2.—MCG, GMA News
