The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has raised concerns over the worsening Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and neighbouring Uganda, warning that more infections are expected in the coming weeks.
Tedros disclosed this in an update posted on his X platform on Tuesday.
According to him, 101 Ebola Bundibugyo virus cases have so far been confirmed in the DRC, including 10 confirmed deaths.
However, he noted that the actual scale of the outbreak was far greater, with over 900 suspected cases and 220 suspected deaths already recorded.
