It’s a small question but a biggie. When is the polite time to arrive at a party?
Some people believe if an invitation says 7pm, you should arrive at 7pm. After all, that’s the time you were invited.
Others swear by an unofficial grace period, where turning up right on the dot means the host is still getting changed, putting food out or frantically cleaning the bathroom.
Then there’s the opposite offence: arriving so late that dinner is cold and everyone else is already halfway through the evening.
The ‘correct’ arrival time often depends on the type of event. A dinner party, barbecue, birthday and casual drinks all come with their own unwritten rules.
