However, counsel to the defence, Adedayo Adedeji, SAN, drew the court’s attention to 16 Motions on Notice filed to set aside the interim forfeiture order issued on January 6, 2026.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, reserved judgment in the high-profile forfeiture case involving 57 properties linked to former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission pushed for their permanent forfeiture to the Nigerian Government.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik fixed July 6, 2026 for judgment after hearing arguments from both the EFCC and legal representatives of the former minister and other respondents challenging the interim forfeiture order earlier granted by the court.

At the resumed proceedings, EFCC counsel, J.S. Okutepa, SAN, informed the court that the matter was scheduled for the hearing of the application for final forfeiture of the properties alongside other pending applications before the court.

However, counsel to the defence, Adedayo Adedeji, SAN, drew the court’s attention to 16 Motions on Notice filed to set aside the interim forfeiture order issued on January 6, 2026.
