‘Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala: The Heart of Dharma’, a book brought out by THG Publishing Private Limited, was released in Dharmasthala on Tuesday.D. Veerendra Heggade, pattadhikari of Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara temple and Rajya Sabha member, released the book.Speaking on the occasion, he said the book reflected The Hindu’s standards of unbiased journalism. “It covers the temple, its core philosophy, the Chatur Danas and the wealth of activities under them in great detail. This may inspire thousands of people, temples and institutions,” he added.S.S. Anil Kumar, chief executive officer of the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), said the biggest challenge in producing the book is distilling the breadth and depth of Dharmasthala’s institutional activities into 96 pages.S. Satheeshchandra, secretary of SDM Educational Society, was present.The book captures Dharmasthala and its shrines with meticulous detail. Richly illustrated, it explores the town’s religious harmony - the Manjunatha temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, coexisting with a huge statue of Lord Bahubali, a revered figure of the Jain tradition. Ancient legends and philosophy are woven through the narrative, capturing a multi-faith ecosystem operating without friction. Beyond its spiritual architecture, the book documents Dharmasthala’s social welfare and rural development impact. A covenant of service feeds over several thousands people daily at the temple. Health, education and rural development programmes have transformed the lives of lakhs across the region.Copies of the book will be available with the SKDRDP.
