Dhruva Charitramu – a Bhagavata Mela dance drama book, published by the Melattur Bhagavata Mela Natya Natak Trust and Vidya Sangam, was released on the occasion of Sri Nrushimha Jayanthi at Melattur.

The traditional Bhagavata Mela dance drama work Dhruva Charitramu was conceived and coined by the late Bhagavata Mela Natya Nataka Pithamagar Brahmashri Melattur Venkatarama Sastri. It was one among 10 such works coined by the late Venkatarama Sastri.

Prahalada Charitramu, Sita Kalyanamu, Markandeya Charitramu, Usha Parinayamu, Krishna Jananamu and Harischandra Natakamu were the other works of late Venkatrama Sastri that were edited by former Principal, Madras Sanskrit College, Chennai, N.V. Deviprasad and published by the trust.

The Dhruva Charitramu book was released by the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalya, Kancheepuram, G. Srinivasu, and was received by the eminent Kuchipudi artist, K.V. Satyanarayana, on April 30 at Melattur.

The book release event formed part of the inauguration of the five-day Melattur Bhagavata Mela Natya Natak Mahotsav 2026 organised by the trust, which was organising the Bhagavata Mela for the past five centuries near the Narayana Theertham at the Melattur village.
