Oreo and BTS announced a limited-edition cookie collaboration on Monday, with the product going on presale June 1 and hitting retail shelves June 8 across more than 80 markets worldwide.

At the center of the cookie is a creme developed to evoke the flavor of hotteok, a Korean street food staple — a warm pancake packed with brown sugar. BTS members said the flavor reflects their upbringing; Jin said in a statement that the goal was to "share with everyone the kinds of dessert flavors Koreans enjoy." Making history for Oreo, the wafers break from the brand's traditional palette with a purple hue — chosen because purple has long been the signature color of BTS and its devoted fan community, called ARMY.

Timed to the group's 13th anniversary this June, the wafers carry 13 distinct embossed designs the band created themselves — among them each member's name, the iconic BTS light stick fans wave at concerts, and a trio of designs whose hidden message only reveals itself once all three are in hand. The cookies will retail for $5.49 per pack, according to Forbes.

"For OREO to be the first snacking brand we've collaborated with globally is a huge honor," BTS said in a statement. "We ate them as kids, we eat them in the studio, and now OREO is helping us share a taste of home with the world."
