Tyson Fury has seemingly set his sights on an August return to the ring, with the former heavyweight champion keen to box in Dublin before he takes on Anthony Joshua.Fury is contracted to fight Joshua at an unknown date later this year, but likely in October or November, and certainly not before “AJ” competes this summer. The win over Makhmudov marked Fury’s fifth time coming out of retirement, in fact, after he called it quits following back-to-back points losses to Oleksandr Usyk.In the aftermath of the April bout, it was confirmed that Fury will box Joshua later this year, potentially at London’s Wembley Stadium, but that AJ, 36, will first box Prenga. However, the British pair were signed to box each other once before, so fans may have to manage their expectations until the former heavyweight champions actually share a ring.Fury and Joshua were contracted to square off in 2021, but Deontay Wilder threatened legal action, forcing a trilogy bout between himself and Fury. The latter proceeded to knock out Wilder for the second time. Joshua, who has been intermittently linked to Wilder over the last decade, last fought in December, stopping YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in six rounds. That contest streamed live on Netflix, and the streaming giant is expected to broadcast Fury vs Joshua this year, too. A rematch between the rivals is then expected to take place in 2027.
