Plateau State governorship aspirant, Kefas Ropshik, on Tuesday emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state after winning a closely contested primary election ahead of the 2027 polls.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by his media team.

Ropshik polled 19,938 votes to defeat three other aspirants in the primary held with delegates drawn from all 17 local government areas of the state.

The outcome positions Ropshik as the party’s candidate to challenge incumbent Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who is expected to seek a second term.

In his acceptance speech after being declared winner, Ropshik thanked party leaders, delegates and supporters, dedicating his victory to God.
