A 0.1% monthly increase in U.S. single-family home prices was recorded in March, the Federal Housing Finance Agency reported, reversing a downward-revised 0.1% drop the month before, Reuters noted.

Year over year, the 12-month period ending in March brought a 1.7% price increase. For the first quarter of 2026, prices climbed 0.5% from the fourth quarter of 2025, and 1.7% compared with the same period a year earlier, the FHFA said.

Home prices have posted positive annual appreciation every quarter since the start of 2012, according to the agency.

Among U.S. states, prices rose in 42 of 50 over the past year. Illinois led all states with 7.3% annual appreciation, followed by Alaska at 5.5% and Vermont at 4.9%. Colorado recorded the steepest decline, with prices falling 2.4%.
