The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Rural Committee staged a rally against fuel price hike near RTC Bus Stand centre in Nellore on Tuesday (May 26, 2026). They demanded that the Central government reduce the petrol and diesel prices immediately, else, they said that they would intensify the protest into a large-scale agitation.Speaking to the media on the occasion, CPI(M) Nellore district secretary Madala Venkateswarlu said, “Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has imposed huge burdens on the people by increasing the petrol and diesel prices four times in a period of just ten days.”“Already, the prices of commercial and domestic gas cylinders have been increased and people are being harassed. On one hand, international crude oil prices fell yesterday. After 60 days of the announcement of ceasefire, the crude oil prices were reduced thrice. However, the BJP government at the Centre is still increasing the prices of petrol and diesel,” he added.CPI(M) leaders K. Penchala Narasaiah, Katta Satish, Aziz Sudhakar, Shivaji Suresh Eswaraiah, Shyam Sundar, Prasad, Srinivasulu, Bala Guravaiah, Nagaraju and others participated in the protest.
