District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya directed officials to formulate an action plan to transform Nandyal into a 100% literate district by 2027.At a meeting, the Collector urged officials to work in coordination with the objective of providing education to every illiterate individual. She stated that through the “ULLAS-1” programme, 26,000 individuals have already become literate. However, a survey conducted in 2022 revealed that there are still over 325,000 illiterate individuals in the district. With the aim of making all these individuals literate within a three-year timeframe, an action plan is currently under way, targeting over 100,000 people annually.Nearly one lakh of them have already attained literacy, the Collector said.
