The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took out a rally in Yadgir city and staged a protest outside the office of the City Municipal Council against an inactive administration and also, lack of development. The rally was led by the former MPs Raja Amareshwar Naik and Umesh Jadhav. It began at the Mailapur Base and concluded at the CMC office. The protesters pointed out the inefficiency of the officers of GESCOM, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, Health and Family Welfare, the CMC, the Police, Stamps and Registration officers.“Electricity supply in urban and rural areas has been disrupted. The Reverse Osmosis Plants (ROPs) are not functioning. Land survey has been derailed by the negligence of the Revenue Department. Dividers on main roads have been constructed with poor-quality material and streetlights that have been erected are of poor quality. Infants and mothers are suffering at the Mother and Child Hospital without even basic amenities,” they said. The protesters specifically said that corruption is deeply spread in the Yadgir CMC. Officers are collecting more money than the accurate fees fixed for renewal of khatas. The action plan for works under Nagarothan scheme for 2021-22 haven’t been prepared as per procedure and norms. A majority of drains remain clogged and garbage is uncleaned in various wards.Illegal sand extraction is rampant. Influential people behind such illegal activities haven’t been brought to book, they said. They targeted Yadgir MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur for not ensuring basic amenities for citizens and his failure to take action against inefficient officers to ensure that all government facilities reach the public effectively. There is a need for building a Rajakaluve near the LIC Office for the smooth passage of drain water. Officials should carry out a survey for the construction of a bypass as part of National Highway 150. They should make the alingment correct by attending to technical glitch. Though tenders were called for work on the road from Mailapur Base to Hattikuni Cross . two years ago, work has not yet started. The authorities should take immediate action to complete it, they demanded. The protesters submitted a memorandum addressed to the Deputy Commissioner to the authorities.BJP district unit president Basavarajappa Vibhutihalli, Rachanagouda Mudnal, Maheshreddy Mudnal, Lalita Anpur, Lingappa Hattimani, Ramesh Doddamani, Parashuram Kurkundi and others were present.
