As many as 77.97% of the students who appeared for the Plus Two higher secondary examinations in March this year have become eligible for higher studies.The pass percentage was 0.16 percentage points higher than the 77.81% last year, Minister for General Education N. Samsudheen, who announced the Plus Two higher secondary and vocational higher secondary results, said here on Tuesday.This is the third successive year that the pass percentage has remained below 80.Significantly, girls outperformed boys by a huge margin this year. Of the 3,72,423 students who appeared for the Plus Two higher secondary examinations, 2,90,381 became eligible for higher studies.Of them, 1,67,475 were girls (86.89%) and 1,22,906 were boys (68.41%).The pass percentage for boys declined from 68.44% last year, while the percentage for girls increased from 86.65%.VHSE resultsIn the vocational higher secondary examinations, 72.49% of those who appeared for the Continuous Evaluation and Grading NSQF (National Skills Qualifications Framework) scheme examination qualified for higher studies, an increase of 2.43 percentage points from the 70.06% last year.As many as 25,259 students had appeared for the examinations, and 18,311 qualified—8,595 girls (83.58%) and 9,716 boys (64.88%).
