The Kozhikode Revenue District registered a 99.36% pass percentage in the SSLC examinations this year, marginally lower than the 99.67% recorded in the 2024–25 academic year. With the latest results announced by General Education Principal Secretary Sharmila Mary Joseph on Friday (May 15, 2026), Kozhikode slipped to the ninth position among districts in terms of overall pass percentage after having been among the top five districts last year.A total of 43,045 students, including 22,098 boys and 20,947 girls, appeared for the examinations this year. Of them, 42,770 students qualified for higher studies, including 21,920 boys and 20,850 girls.Last year, 43,697 out of 43,841 students who appeared for the examinations were eligible for higher studies. Education department sources said the pattern of examination was different in 2026. The question papers were set in such a way that only students with a thorough understanding of the textbook lessons could achieve top scores, they said. Published - May 15, 2026 07:42 pm IST
