The UEFA Champions League final is the pinnacle of club football. Millions of eyes watch a single match where legacies are forged and pressure crushes the ordinary. While many legendary forwards have conquered the group stages or dominated the quarter-finals, a select few have elevated their status by scoring goals when the trophy was literally in the room.
When looking at the history of the European Cup (1955–1992) and the modern UEFA Champions League (1992–present), a few iconic names stand far above the rest.
To find the absolute record holders for the most goals scored in European Cup/Champions League finals, we have to look back to the legendary Real Madrid team that dominated the late 1950s and early 1960s. Two men sit tied at the very top of this mountain with seven goals each.
Alfredo Di Stéfano did something that will likely never be repeated: he scored in five consecutive European Cup finals from 1956 to 1960.
