In his latest remarks regarding Iran’s enriched uranium, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the materials must either be transferred to the United States and destroyed there, or eliminated through cooperation and coordination with Tehran, either inside Iran or at an agreed-upon location under the supervision of international bodies.

Trump said: “The Enriched Uranium (Nuclear Dust!) will either be immediately turned over to the United States to be brought home and destroyed or, preferably, in conjunction and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, destroyed in place or at another acceptable location, with the Atomic Energy Commission, or its equivalent, being witness to this process and event.”

This stance comes after weeks of Trump emphasizing the complete transfer of enriched uranium outside Iran, citing this condition as one of the main pillars of the negotiations.

However, some analysts, including Axios reporter Barak Ravid, have interpreted this shift in rhetoric as a sign of Washington “backing down” from its previous positions and moving closer to some of the proposals put forward by Iran.

At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously emphasized that ending the tensions would not be possible until Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles are completely removed from the country.
