Lokpobiri stressed that expanding the capacity of private security companies would allow more Niger Delta youths to benefit from employment, education, and community development initiatives.

The Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum has issued a strong communiqué following its recent summits, calling on the Nigerian government and key institutions to intensify development, expand security efforts, and resist attempts to destabilise existing progress in the region.

Speaking in Abuja, the Chairman of the Forum, Jonathan Lokpobiri, emphasised that the resolutions were reached after extensive consultations, including the May 11 summit in Port Hacourt attended by over 2,000 youths.

He noted that the Niger Delta remains plagued by underdevelopment and sabotage, despite ongoing efforts by companies engaged in safeguarding oil and gas infrastructure.

“Our message is clear,” Lokpobiri declared. “The National Assembly leadership, the National Security Adviser, and the NNPC must support those already delivering results in pipeline protection. We say no to criminality, vandalism, and illegal bunkering. The progress we have achieved must not be sabotaged.”
