Air India has expanded its loyalty offering enabling its customers to earn and burn Club Maharaja points on Air India Express flights.Up until now Air India’s loyalty programme members could earn and redeem points only on its flights and not on those operated by its no-frills brand. This was a pain point for the airline’s frequent flyers, and the expansion of the programme will enable them to earn and redeem points on AI Express flights covering 55 destinations.“The growing scale of the Air India Express network makes the introduction of accruals and redemption on these flights timelier and more important, addressing a long-standing expectation of our frequent flyers. It also reflects our aim to build Maharaja points into a valuable currency over time,” said Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal. The programme expansion is expected to make loyalty programme more attractive, increase redemption opportunities and enable more tie-ups with banks and other companies.Neupass programmesAir India Express flights are currently covered under Tata group’s Neupass reward programmes. Flyers earn up to eight Neucoins for every ₹100 spent and these benefits will continue. There will be no conversion of Neucoins into Maharaja points. For now Club Maharaja members will not enjoy any tier benefits such as free seats, cancellation fee waivers etc on Air India Express flights.Published on May 26, 2026
