The Borno State government has temporarily shut down Government Day Secondary School, Mussa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area following the abduction of 42 students and children by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
The state government also approved the relocation of students from the affected school to Government Secondary School, Uba, as part of emergency security measures under the Safe Schools Initiative.
The decision was announced by the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Lawan Wakilbe, during a visit to the affected community on Monday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Governor Babagana Zulum’s spokesperson, Dauda Illiya, the commissioner said the relocation became necessary to guarantee the safety of students after the attack.
