Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, the spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has called reports regarding Doha offering a $12 billion proposal to Tehran to secure the signing of an agreement “completely baseless.”

Writing on his official account on the social media platform X, he stated that these claims are being circulated by parties seeking to “sabotage the agreement” and undermine diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region.

Al-Ansari emphasized that Qatar’s diplomatic endeavors are conducted in coordination with regional partners and “in a transparent manner,” adding that these narratives are nothing more than attempts to tarnish Qatar’s credibility as a reliable mediator.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed: “Qatar’s diplomatic efforts, which are carried out in coordination with regional partners, are completely transparent, and these narratives are nothing more than desperate attempts to tarnish the credibility of the State of Qatar as a reliable international actor in achieving peace.”

Earlier, some media outlets, citing informed sources, had reported that the Islamic Republic’s negotiators demanded the immediate release of $12 billion of Iran’s frozen assets in Qatar, setting this request as a precondition for continuing talks with the United States.
