Four motorcycle-borne men hurled Molotov cocktails (petrol bombs) at the house of a girl near Thondamuthur in Coimbatore district on Sunday (May 24, 2026).According to the police, four men arrived in two motorcycles at a house at Kalikkanaicken Palayam near Thondamuthur at 6.46 p.m. and hurled the explosives.A surveillance camera visual of the incident showed two men halting their two-wheeler in front of the house’s gate and the pillion rider hurling a Molotov cocktail that landed in the portico. The video showed a few persons rushing to the house from outside, after noticing the attack, and removing a scooter and bicycle parked in the portico. The residents of the house, meanwhile, came out and extinguished the fire.Serial offender, say policeThondamuthur Inspector T. Shanmugavel said one of the persons involved in the attack, who hails from Chennai, is a serial offender. He had allegedly been in a relationship with the daughter of the houseowner a few years ago. Previously, the accused had been booked under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Madurai for eloping with a girl below the age of 18, the Inspector said.The Chennai native and his three friends carried out the attack, allegedly after the girl distanced herself from him.The police are on the lookout for the accused.
