This year's Race Across the World opened up about their next steps as they appeared on BBC Breakfast08:59, 26 May 2026Race Across the World star Kush has revealed his next career move after winning the show with best friend Jo.The pair, who are from Liverpool, were crowned the winners of the 2006 series of the BBC travel series after becoming the first duo to cross the finish line in Lake Khövsgöl in northern Mongolia.Appearing on BBC Breakfast, they opened up about their career plans, with Jo telling hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay that he wanted to get into content creation and Kush revealing his bid to get into music."I've got my first song coming out on Friday, which is so exciting," said Kush."Music was always sort of plan A for me before the whole TV thing. And so going back to that, I'm really going to give it a go.""I think we've both got some plans to continue our travelling - we've both still got the travel bug," said Jo."I've got South America in a couple of weeks. I'm going to stay there for three months. And I think I'm going to give content a go, just vlogging. And I possibly might lean into speaking about mental health, and especially men's mental health, I think it's so important to talk about."The race saw five teams set off from Palermo in Sicily to travel more than 11,000km across Europe and Asia to the end point in Mongolia. They had no phones or band cards and just the amount in cash that the plane fare from Italy to Mongolia would have cost.Presenter Jon mentioned that Jo and Kush showed a "steeliness" from the start, and Jo agreed: "Once we got in, once we realised we were actually a competitor in season six, the main objective was to win.""It's like a fever dream," Kush said of the fact they ended up beating the other teams - siblings Katie and Harrison, in laws Mark and Margo, cousins Puja and Roshni and father and daughter Andrew and Molly."It was one of those where we actually had, we struggled for two months of lack of sleep, lack of food, and then to have the results that we did was so validating, everything that we'd sacrificed all the tough times, it was all worth it," said Kush."But it's quite funny how before, we were constantly throughout the entire trip, we're saying, 'If we win' or 'When we win', we'd say, 'How are we going to celebrate?' I mean, so many ideas. 'We'll do this. We'll do that. We'll say this.' And then the second we opened up the book, it was all out of the box."Jo laughed: "When I watched the footage back when the final episode aired, I didn't realise how loud I was screaming. Oh, my God. It was the craziest feeling in the world. Craziest feeling."Article continues below"Doesn't feel real," added Kush.Race Across the World aired on BBC One.BBC Breakfast airs on BBC One from 6am.
