Prabowo’s trip comes just over a month after his previous visit to Paris for talks with Macron, during which the two leaders discussed a broad range of cooperation, particularly in the defense sector.

President Prabowo Subainto departed for Paris on Monday evening for talks with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, officials said, marking the second meeting between the two leaders in less than two months. Speaking to reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday, Second Deputy State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro said Prabowo would celebrate the Idul Adha Islamic holiday in France during the working visit, though he did not elaborate further on the President’s agenda.

“The President left last night for his overseas work visit. [...] Foreign Minister [Sugiono] will provide further details,” Juri said.
