MANILA, Philippines — Newly appointed Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino formally assumed leadership of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) replacing Bienvenido Laguesma in a turnover ceremony on Tuesday.

Tolentino said he will focus on the execution of existing labor laws, protection of workers’ welfare, and preparing the youth for “jobs of the future.”

In the ceremony, Tolentino reiterated his acceptance of the “mantle of responsibility with great humility and gratitude,” acknowledging the challenges facing the labor and employment sector.
