Hello,

India will need coordinated efforts from the government, industry, and academia on skilling and policy to emerge as an AI powerhouse, IBM India head Sandip Patel said, even as the technology poses challenges to the country’s position as a global services hub.

Patel said that India’s large young workforce could provide an edge in the global AI race, as businesses increasingly adopt the technology to improve productivity.

Meanwhile, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah said that the development of artificial intelligence cannot be left solely to technology companies, urging greater oversight from religious leaders, ‌governments and civil society.

His remarks come after Pope Leo urged governments to slow down and closely regulate the development of AI systems, warning that they spread misinformation, prioritise conflict and risk leading the world down a path of unending war.
