The Lagos State Government on Monday unveiled the distribution of its 2026 welfare packages to pensioners across the state, an action officials say reaffirms the state’s commitment to the dignity and quality of life of retired public servants.
The official presentation of welfare items took place at Anchor Events Centre, Agidingbi, Ikeja, with retirees from Ikeja Division as the first beneficiaries in what organisers described as a statewide rollout spanning all five administrative divisions.
Director-General of the Lagos State Pension Commission, Mr Babalola Obilana, who presided over the flag-off, said the exercise went beyond material support and was as much a moment of recognition as it was of welfare delivery.
“Today’s gathering is not only about the allocation of welfare items, but also about celebrating and appreciating men and women whose years of sacrifice and dedication contributed immensely to the growth and development of the Lagos State Public Service,” he said.
Obilana described the pensioners as foundational to the institutions that continue to power governance in Lagos State. “Our retirees played vital roles in building the strong and dynamic Public Service we have today.
