The Lagos State Government has paid a total of N88.4bn in pension bonds to 25,656 retirees since May 2019, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also approving fresh pension increments and a N50,000 palliative for public servants.

The Head of Service, Bode Agoro, disclosed this on Monday during the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, Ikeja.

According to Agoro, the payments reflected the state government’s commitment to meeting its obligations to retired workers.

He said between May 2025 and April 2026, the state disbursed N8.04bn to 4,060 retirees across the mainstream civil service, local governments, State Universal Basic Education Board, Teaching Service Commission and other state agencies.
