Checks on Monday showed that prices of cooking gas ranged between N1,400 and N2,000 per kilogramme (kg) in different parts of the country, with sharp increases recorded in several locations.

Cooking gas prices have continued to climb across Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, with households and small businesses bearing the brunt of worsening supply shortages and rising costs in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market.

Checks on Monday showed that prices of cooking gas ranged between N1,400 and N2,000 per kilogramme (kg) in different parts of the country, with sharp increases recorded in several locations.

In Lagos, residents of Ikorodu bought cooking gas at N1,800 per kg, up from about N1,300 a month earlier, while in Ogba, at Afeeze Bus Stop, the price rose to N2,000 per kg from N1,500 within three weeks. In Akoka, Yaba, it sold for N1,500 per kg, and in Ojota, it went for N1,400 per kg.

TheCable reports that in Ogun State, particularly around the RCCG camp area in Mowe, consumers paid as high as N2,000 per kg, while in Owerri, Imo State, it sold for N1,500 per kg.
