The Federal College of Education (FCE), Eha-Amufu in Enugu State is on the verge of a total academic shutdown following a fresh seven-day ultimatum issued to the institution's management by the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU).

The lecturers are protesting against a major statutory breach involving the alleged imposition of a rejected candidate, Dr. Samuel N. Odo, as the substantive Deputy Provost of the school.

They also cite years of unpaid promotion arrears, unremitted allowances, and the prolonged withholding of eight months' salaries since 2019.

In an official notice dated May 21, 2026, signed by the COEASU Chapter Chairman, Comr. Chidi N. Agbo, and Secretary, Comr. Nwachukwu S. Amadi, and obtained by SaharaReporters, the union expressed deep worry over the situation.
