A man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which took place in Wellington in the early hours of 22 May.‌The man, who is in his 20s, was arrested some 150 miles away in Sussex overnight on suspicion of rape, and remains in police custody. The woman reported that a man assaulted and raped her in the North Street area at around 2.20am, before making his escape in a car.‌She was taken to hospital for treatment and subsequently discharged, with support services made available to her.‌The suspect was arrested overnight and his vehicle was seized, according to Somerset Live.
