NewsUK NewsHeatwaveResidents living in the villages of Charing, Challock and Molash have faced disrupted water supplies since problems were first reported at around 8:30am on Saturday morning09:57, 25 May 2026Updated 10:24, 25 May 2026Residents in three villages have been left without water as the UK bakes amidst a “historic” heatwave.‌People living in three villages in Kent have been left without water during the hottest bank holiday weekend on record, thanks to supply issues.‌Locals in Charing, Challock and Molash have faced disrupted water supplies since problems were first reported at around 8:30am on Saturday morning.‌South East Water (SEW) said supply issues resumed at around 09:25am the next day, citing "issues with the pumping station".More than 200 homes are facing separate issues affecting their water supply, including 168 homes in Eastbourne and around 20 homes in Ulcombe near Maidstone, an SEW spokesperson said.‌Incident manager Steve Benton apologised to customers experiencing low pressure or no water intermittently this weekend."This interruption is due to a technical failure at our pumping station near Charing, which means we have struggled to push water to properties on higher ground," he said.Around 790 properties in the area have been impacted, with the figure now reduced to around 250, Benton said.‌It comes as temperatures shattered records on Saturday, soaring to 30.5C in the Kent village of Frittenden, with the sweltering heat only expected to intensify.Brits are now braced for what could become the hottest day in May ever recorded as highs of 35C are forecast in the south east today.Article continues belowThe UKHSA issued a number of yellow and amber heat health alerts across the country, warning there could be an increase in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or those with health conditions.This is a Breaking News story.
