The suspension, according to the aviation regulator, followed consultations with stakeholders and a review of the harsh operating realities confronting airlines, especially the rising cost of aviation fuel, also known as Jet A1.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced the temporary suspension of its controversial “No Pay, No Service” sanction earlier imposed against domestic airlines owing statutory charges to aviation agencies.

The suspension, according to the aviation regulator, followed consultations with stakeholders and a review of the harsh operating realities confronting airlines, especially the rising cost of aviation fuel, also known as Jet A1.

SaharaReporters reported on Sunday, May 24, 2026, that the NCAA directed its departments nationwide to deny regulatory services to at least 11 domestic airlines over unpaid financial obligations owed to the agency, deepening concerns about the worsening financial crisis in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The affected airlines were placed on a “No Pay No Service” list through an internal memo dated May 22, 2026, circulated across the aviation regulator’s operational units and regional offices.
