The Sokoto State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has adopted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its sole presidential candidate ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled to hold on Monday.
The announcement was made on Sunday during a press briefing at the party’s secretariat in Sokoto by Muktari Magori, former Chief of Staff to ex-Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
Magori said the decision was reached after wide consultations among party leaders and stakeholders across the state in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
“The essence of this press conference is to officially announce the consensus reached by members and stakeholders of the ADC in Sokoto State to adopt His Excellency, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa, as the party’s sole presidential candidate ahead of the primaries,” he said.
He added that the endorsement was a reflection of the confidence party members have in Atiku’s leadership experience and political pedigree.
